All is well at osprey hq despite the bad weather. Some of you will know that I reported M had an injury to his chest & the pictures below shows this. The injury did not appear to bother him too much but the fish caught over the past week were considerably smaller than usual. He is now recovering & catching bigger fish & apart from a small amount of feather loss, the injury is clean & dry. I am certainly hoping for some drier weather soon

It is with great joy that I can confirm that there is a chick at osprey hq! It hatched on Friday 27th but I could not confirm until Saturday morning when I first saw XL feedingon the nest & offering tiny morsels into the nest. Below...
The weather over the past week has been truly horrendous with gales most days, heavy persistent rain & hailstones!! There have been times when I have feared for the stability of the tree containing the nest but so far our handywork is bearing up to the elements but I am certainly hoping for an improvement soon. I understand that some nests have not been so lucky with 2 that I know of having failed due to the weather. There is a long way to go until this chick & hopefully 1 or 2 others fledge but things are proceeding well so far. M has brought a variety of nest material recently including moss.. Below...
