M bringing brown trout to nest - above.
11th June 2011
All is well at the nest & both chicks are doing well -1st is now 15 days old & 2nd is 12 days.
M has built up the nest on the west side for protection against the elements. It is still quite difficult to get a good view of them apart from the tops of their heads but both are making their presence clear with regular poops launched over edge of nest! XL is doing a good job with the regular supply of rainbow or brown trout & the occassional pike from M. The nest has been remarkably peaceful with few intruders. A peregrine has been hunting regularly below the nest but he appears so quickly I have not managed any pics but awesome to watch!

There has been a second chick hatched at Osprey HQ on Monday. This was also Day 37 for the second egg. XL could clearly be seen feeding to both sides.
There was a very worrying episode yesterday when M was absent for over 15 hours. He was last seen at about 4pm & did not return to be near the nest by dark. He was still absent at first light, just before 4am. He eventually returned with a still wriggling trout at 06.54 - much to my relief!!
All is well at the nest tonight. I am hoping for a first sight of the tiny bobbleheads any day.
